Crew Chief
Anthony J. DeAngelis

Tony DeAngelis recalled on Apri 20, 1987:
"I enlisted in 1937 in the Army Air Corps. I was its original crew chief and I stayed with the aircraft until McCullar left to become C.O. of the 64th, then I became a Flight Chief. It's odd but B-17 521 "Black Jack" was one of the few planes I felt completely safe in. The original crew was me - Joe Fleming and Evo Rivoli. We did all work on the plane except radio and electronics - we did not do any heavy sheet metal work - we did patch small holes. We all held the Air Force rating of Aircraft Mechanic."
